Elms Elementary School Update

We are pleased to share the following update and conclusion with our Elms Families:

Doctors have informed the district that there is no indication of viral meningitis in an Elms Elementary student who became ill last week.

They also  informed us that there is not “any other infection that would require prophylactic antibiotics, monitoring or other treatment to be administered to classmates or close contacts.’’

IMPORTANT: Notice to Parents:

Cicconi Farms has rescheduled our Fall Festival for Tuesday October 28!
Come on out and join us!

Due to current weather conditions:
the Grade 5 Trip for 10/22 & 10/23  has been rescheduled

On October 1, the Elms Elementary School, joined by former Jackson Principal Barry Rosenzweig, walked to remember our veterans and active service members.  We also held a food drive to help homeless veterans.

Congratulation to Dr. Lisa Lane and Mrs. Donna Donner - winners of the Ocean First Model Classroom Grant!

To the Elms Community -

Thanks to all of you for continuing to work with us in all of our endeavors.  Building Safety and School Security is always something we take seriously.  Jackson School District Policy dictates that PHOTO ID be presented at the front reception area of each of our buildings each and every time you enter.  When you plan on visiting the Elms Elementary School, either to pick up your child or attend an event, please be sure to have PHOTO ID available including the make and model of your motor vehicle.  This is district policy and must be strictly enforced.  Please inform friends, neighbors or relatives who may be visiting and/or picking up your child(ren) that they will need to produce PHOTO ID at main reception before being allowed to enter or pick up a child.  Also please note that parking on the bus ramp is not permitted at any time that school is in full session.  Please use the main parking lot and the visitor spaces during the school day when visiting our school.

We appreciate your cooperation in this regard as this is for the safety and security of all of our learners, and for everyone in the building.

From the Principal

 Dear Elms Parents & Students,

Celebrating the Season: Due to rain, Cicconi Farms has rescheduled  our Fall Festival to Tuesday, October 28thTHANK YOU to all the parents who donated baked goods.  We appreciate that you went out of your way for us.  We look forward to the Fall Festival and hope you can join us on October 28th!

First Grade Staff and Students had a great time at Wemrock Orchards this past week.  They learned about apples, and agriculture and had a lot of fun on the hayride!

PreK staff and students went to DeWolfs Farm – what a great program!  The staff was wonderful and the kids had so much fun!

This week grades 3, 4 & 5 had an assembly called Stop, Think, & Go.  This program spoke to students about being safe and making good choices.  It fits perfectly with our October initiatives of Respect for yourself and others, Safety, and making good choices.

All For Books Coin Drive: We are currently running our All For Books Coin drive.  What would our teachers do for books??  Students drop coins into the bucket for the activity they would like to see.  Currently, the lead is Mr. Burgos and Mr. D’Ambrosio jousting!

The drive will run through book fair next week so there’s still plenty of time to vote for your favorite!
