Beyond the Classroom

Congratulations to our November Bucket Fillers!  Thank you for sharing a smile, a word of kindness, and just overall making Elms a wonderful place!  Congratulations to: Colleen, Duaa, Gianna, Hope, Jarret, Mia, Reilly, Sela, Tristan, & Wolde!

Congratulation to Dr. Lisa Lane and Mrs. Donna Donner - winners of the Ocean First Model Classroom Grant!

To the Elms Community -

Thanks to all of you for continuing to work with us in all of our endeavors.  Building Safety and School Security is always something we take seriously.  Jackson School District Policy dictates that PHOTO ID be presented at the front reception area of each of our buildings each and every time you enter.  When you plan on visiting the Elms Elementary School, either to pick up your child or attend an event, please be sure to have PHOTO ID available including the make and model of your motor vehicle.  This is district policy and must be strictly enforced.  Please inform friends, neighbors or relatives who may be visiting and/or picking up your child(ren) that they will need to produce PHOTO ID at main reception before being allowed to enter or pick up a child.  Also please note that parking on the bus ramp is not permitted at any time that school is in full session.  Please use the main parking lot and the visitor spaces during the school day when visiting our school.

We appreciate your cooperation in this regard as this is for the safety and security of all of our learners, and for everyone in the building.

District Happenings

NOTICE: Monday, Jan. 26th at 1:25 p.m.
Jackson School District will be
CLOSED Tuesday, Jan. 27th

The Jackson School District will be CLOSED
on Tuesday, Jan. 27th due to anticipated weather conditions.

All after-school and evening activities are canceled when school is closed.

We will be sending out an automated call about this closure after we dismiss today.
As this storm develops, please continue to monitor this website for any additional updates that may affect the rest of this week.

This snow day means that there WILL BE SCHOOL for ALL STUDENTS on Thursday, Jan. 29th.  This Thursday was originally a day off for all students for transition day and professional day. However, in accordance with our contingency plans published on our school calendar, WE WILL NOW HAVE SCHOOL on Thursday.

For our high school students, the snow day on Tuesday means that exams will now get bumped one day and will take place during Wednesday, Jan. 28th and Thursday, Jan. 29th. These days will be shortened days for HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY (for exams) - meaning high school students will be dismissed early under our shortened day schedule. All other students will have a full school day.

If this storm ends up impacting Wednesday, we will update this schedule again.

Sunday, Jan. 25 @ 7:30 p.m.

 Notice - Sunday, Jan. 25@ 7:30 p.m.

The Jackson School District will have EARLY DISMISSAL tomorrow (Monday, Jan. 26) due to anticipated weather conditions.

This means that all schools will operate on a SHORTENED DAY SCHEDULE. See our school hours page on our website for the schedule - be sure to scroll down to the SHORTENED DAY SCHEDULE.

It also means that:

  • PM Kindergarten is CANCELED
  • PM Pre-School programs are CANCELED
  • There will be NO PM CHILD CARE today
  • All after-school and evening activities are CANCELED

we didn’t have to worry about all this other stuff.’’

From the Principal

Dear Elms Parents & Students,

Ronald McDonald House: The Elms School continues to support the Ronald McDonald of Long Branch, NJ, by collecting tabs from cans.  Tabs are collected, weighed, and brought to the Ronald McDonald house where they are salvaged to raise money.  The Ronald McDonald House is a place where families with seriously ill children can stay to remain near the child.  Please place can tabs in a Ziploc bag and send to school with your child to help us in this cause.

PTN Meeting: The meeting has been rescheduled for February 18 in the evening (6:30PM).  Before the meeting, at 6:00PM, Special Guest Speakers Dr. Genco, Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Rotante, Director of STEM, & Ms. Licitra, Director of Literacy & Curriculum, will give an overview of the PARCC assessment and also the Common Core.  Attendees will be provided with information as to changes from the NJCCS as well as timelines for its implementation.  A sample PARCC assessment in literacy and math will be shared along with additional resources for parent use and perusal.  Come out and join us!

Choral Concert: The Elms Chorus will hold its Winter Concert on Monday, January 26
